Fighting AI-Generated Fraud

Deepfakes have surged over 2,000% since 2022, and bot-driven attacks are causing an estimated €184 billion in losses globally. Innerworks, a London-based cybersecurity startup founded in 2020, specializes in what it calls Synthetic Threat Intelligence — the ability to distinguish genuine human behavior from AI-driven imitations across digital channels.

Co-founded by Oliver Quie, Oscar Hayek, and Tom Ryan, Innerworks raised a €3.7M seed round led by AlbionVC. Quie brings over a decade of identity analytics experience, Hayek previously worked in AI for the Australian Government, and Ryan is a former Cambridge machine learning researcher. The platform achieves 97% accuracy in detecting synthetic threats and has already been deployed in national infrastructure defense.

Red-Teaming the Internet

What makes Innerworks distinctive is its RedTeam feature — a crypto-bounty program that enlists ethical hackers and AI agents to continuously probe and test an organization's defenses against synthetic threats. Rather than waiting for attackers to find weaknesses, Innerworks proactively identifies vulnerabilities before they can be exploited. The company has investigated some of the largest crypto breaches and is positioning itself as a critical layer of defense as AI-generated fraud becomes increasingly sophisticated and difficult to detect with traditional methods.
