Ships That Sail Themselves
Mirai Robotics builds software-defined autonomous surface vehicles from Puglia, southern Italy. Their vessels complete full dock-to-dock missions without human intervention, combining advanced sensing, autonomous navigation, remote supervision, and multiple safety layers into a single integrated platform. Co-founded by Luciano Belviso (CEO), Luca Mascaro (CPTO), and Davide Dattoli (Board), the company is pioneering a new class of maritime autonomy for both commercial and defense applications.
From Aircraft to Warships
CEO Luciano Belviso previously founded Blackshape, an aircraft manufacturer known for high-performance carbon fiber planes. Now he's applying that aerospace engineering expertise — precision manufacturing, sensor fusion, and autonomous systems design — to maritime autonomy. The €3.9M pre-seed round was led by Primo Ventures, Techshop, and 40Jemz Ventures, positioning Mirai to scale its dual-use autonomous vessel technology across commercial shipping and naval defense markets.
About Luciano Belviso
Luciano Belviso is the CEO of Mirai Robotics, an Italian startup building autonomous surface vehicles for dock-to-dock maritime missions. He co-founded the company alongside Luca Mascaro (CPTO) and Davide Dattoli (Board), bringing deep aerospace and hardware engineering experience to the maritime domain.
Belviso is a second-time founder who previously built Blackshape, an aircraft manufacturer specializing in high-performance carbon fiber planes. At Mirai, he is applying lessons from aerospace — precision manufacturing, sensor fusion, and autonomous systems — to create vessels that navigate entire missions without human intervention. The company combines advanced sensing, autonomous navigation, remote supervision, and safety layers into a unified platform.
Under Belviso's leadership, Mirai raised a €3.9M pre-seed round led by Primo Ventures, Techshop, and 40Jemz Ventures. Operating with approximately 15 employees out of Puglia, southern Italy, the company is developing dual-use autonomous vessel technology for both commercial shipping and naval defense applications.
