Flexing the Grid Without Breaking Comfort
The power grid is under increasing strain as electrification accelerates — from heat pumps to EV chargers to data centers. One of the most cost-effective solutions isn't building more power plants but getting existing buildings to use electricity more intelligently. That's exactly what Orus Energy does.
Founded in 2023 in Paris by Alexandre Girard, Fanny Sauvee, and Theophile Karila, Orus Energy has built a demand-side flexibility platform that enables commercial buildings to automatically shift energy consumption during peak periods. The result: lower energy costs for building operators, less strain on the grid, and meaningful carbon reduction.
What They're Building
The platform uses AI to analyze a building's energy patterns and automatically adjust HVAC, lighting, and other systems to shift consumption away from peak demand windows — all without compromising occupant comfort. Since launching commercially, Orus has registered over 1 million square meters of real estate on its platform, with clients including IKEA and La Poste Immobilier.
Why It Matters
The approximately $2.4 million pre-seed round, led by b2venture with participation from Asterion Ventures and Ring Capital, positions Orus Energy to scale across Europe's rapidly growing demand-flexibility market. As grid operators increasingly rely on demand response to balance supply and consumption, platforms like Orus become essential infrastructure for the energy transition.
