Independent Restaurants Can't Keep Up
Independent restaurants and food entrepreneurs struggle to compete with large chains that have dedicated marketing teams and budgets to stay visible across search engines, maps, social platforms, and delivery apps. Most local operators lack the time, staff, or technical know-how to manage their online presence and convert that visibility into actual orders and reservations — leaving them at a structural disadvantage against players like Domino's.
What They're Building
SOUS, based in Amsterdam, is building what it calls an "AI sous chef" for restaurant growth: a vertical SaaS operating system that deploys AI agents to continuously manage a restaurant's visibility across search, maps, social, and emerging AI-driven discovery channels, then converts that reach into direct orders and bookings while automating marketing and customer engagement — all without the business needing a tech team.
One flagship client, El Puente in Eindhoven, grew online sales from roughly €30,000 to €177,000 without additional marketing spend while cutting operational costs by 50%.
Growth
Founded in 2022 out of the Antler program, SOUS reports over €10M in additional revenue generated for independent food businesses and more than 200,000 customers served over two years. The $4.3M (€4M) seed round, announced March 2026, was led by seed+speed Ventures with participation from PeakBridge, āltitude, and Gekko Capital, funding expansion into Germany as its first major new market.
